Description
We are looking for a team of mechanical services design engineers to work on new data centre projects across the UK. An established consultants is launching a new division specialising in data centres. The scope of the Senior Mechanical Engineering role will encompass:
*Assisting with managing of professional, technical and support staff within the office.
*Assisting senior management with, predicting and programming department workload, review and allocation of work and maintaining productivity.
*Managing and expanding the service delivery offered by the consultant to clients
*Develop the standards, processes and knowledge to deliver to our core clients
*Mentoring and developing of Building Services Engineers and other team members
*Compliance with client QSE procedures and assisting the Team Leaders to oversee engineers to do the same.
*Establishing client briefs, appropriate fees, and cost control from inception through to completion.
*Financial and commercial management from project inception through to completion on own projects.
*Conducting a portfolio of fee based activities with our key multi sector client base. Option appraisals to determine best value solutions for clients.
*Fully involved in the production of drawings, specifications and tender documents.
*Survey and technical report writing.
*Production of electrical design calculations
*Working closely with other design disciplines to ensure fully co-ordinated design solutions.
*Monitoring site works to establish that it is being carried out in accordance with specifications and methods statements.
*Witnessing testing and commissioning of mechanical services installations and confirming works are ready for handover.
Requirements
We are looking for a talented individual who can assist Senior Management in developing the business and the teams. Your expertise will include:
*HNC or degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant electrical discipline with extensive electrical design experience and ideally working towards Chartered status.
*Experience of working within a mechanical & electrical engineering design consultancy practice
*Computer literate in, Hevacomp, Amtech, and Microsoft Office packages - an understanding of AutoCAD and NES is beneficial
*Knowledge and experience of UK regulations relating to construction and building services
*Ability to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
*Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients
*Ability to assist with management and mentoring multi disciplinary teams.
*Experience of working effectively with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team environment and with a professional approach to external clients
*Ability to manage resource and workload allocations for other team members.
*An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
*Ability to read and understand the mech regulations and the application of these for design
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
