Highfield Professional Solutions are working with a main contractor to recruit for an Assistant Planner to join the team in Southampton to provide resource for current and expected increase in regional workload for tendering and contract planning.

You will be expected to travel across the South East region and travel to other offices in the South when required.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is at the start of their planning career and looking for a strong training and mentoring opportunity.

You will focus on:


•Identifying and selecting the appropriate techniques & sequence of events for each project.

•Analysing sites & local environments to determine appropriate logistics solutions & resources.

•Using specialist planning computer software (Asta Powerproject).

•Preparing logistics plans including awareness of 4D.

•Writing method statements, incorporating graphics


Programmes & Schedules:

•Calculating production outputs, draw up and present plans / programmes.

•Scheduling labour, equipment, temporary works, design information requirements procurement and other pre-construction activities for each tender or project.

•Work closely with the Estimating department to exchange key information for preliminaries pricing


Monitoring & Reporting:

•Monitoring progress throughout the construction process & comparing this with the planned programme

•Reporting findings & recommending solutions to recover delays.

•Recording relevant events for potential entitlement claims.

•Using graphics and narratives to reflect progress, event impacts and forecasts.


To succeed in this role you will have:

•An energetic, proactive, hands-on, confident and self-motivated approach.

•An basic understanding of planning processes & activities.

•Proficient experience in software use: Asta Powerproject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.

•Knowledge in MS Project and Primavera, but not essential..

•Good communication skills, ability to work within a team environment or as an individual and be prepared to respond directly to Clients’ requests or enquiries.
