Design is undertaken in-house and through our approved network of design houses, therefore providing clients with an integrated design and detailing service ensuring single source responsibility for design and supply of the facade. Working for main contractors, project management companies and architects we have established a strong reputation for first class service and reliability.
The role of the Design Manger is to work on a total design solution specific to each project. This will be done by ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures.
You will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed and reporting to the technical manager.
You main duties and responsibilities will be:
Managing a design team.
Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise.
Supporting, understanding, and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design.
Encouraging and inspiring designers to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources, and talents in a cost-effective way.
Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, where appropriate.
Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
You will have a degree, HND or equivalent, ideally in a design or construction related subject.
You will have high standards of numeracy, oral and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate a capability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively and on own initiative. Membership to a professional body is desirable not essential.
You will be someone who takes ownership for their work and be able to represent the company(s interests in a tactically appropriate way. The successful candidate will have good communication skills as this role will involve extensive communication to internal and external clients.
The role is office based in Fareham but travel to client meetings, site visits will be required.
